The Startline

This trip has been very special, some super fast racing, particularly in top-fuel with a huge number of sub four second runs it has been a been a very high quality meeting.

The weekend highlight was to get to the startline and start the car being driven by Tony Franco Jnr, the race was between Jnr and Tony senior with Tony Snr winning and running 288 mph.  That’s equivalent to  a 1 mile in 12.5 seconds !!

The whole Muy Caliente team made Brad and me very welcome but special thanks to Tony Snr & Jnr, Kris Boesen and Tom Bognor.
The heat and thrust from 2 jet dragsters is something we will both remember for a very long time!

Friday at The Strip IV

Following the Top Fuel field , which I must say was absolutely awesome from the start line, it was now the time for the Jets

Tom Bognor, Brad and myself stood in the center of the start line between the two cars, when they left the line the heat and force was incredible and something we will remember for a very long time.

Tom and the team have made us very welcome and it has truly been a very special day!

Friday at the Strip

Friday was a beautiful day in Las Vegas with not a cloud in the sky.

We started the day with a great conversation with Richie Crampton in the Lucas pit, Richie is a great guy and was a real pleasure to meet up with.

Arrived in Vegas !!

We arrived in Las Vegas after a stop over in New York, it was very wet and foggy and take off was delayed for an hour due to the conditions.

We were upgraded so this was a pleasant surprise and the extra room very welcome.

At the car rental pickup our new ride was waiting for us, a new Chevrolet Camaro convertible in white so we were cruising the Strip last night with the top down and 72 degrees made for a really pleasant evening.

We are staying in the Bellagio and this hotel is really as good as everybody says it is although very busy in the casino for a Wednesday night!
Today Brad and I are having a days rest going to the Hoover dam and the Grand Canyon collecting car & RV parts on the journey!

We will be at the Track tomorrow and will be blogging more race related items then! Bye for now.

Brad & Wayne head out to the Strip at Las Vegas

We are just about to leave for the USA, we are flying United Airlines, firstly with a stopover in New York, we then fly out from Newark to Las Vegas.

We have a rental car for the trip, kindly arranged by Andy Wheeler, this is a convertible so I will have to put plenty of sunscreen on my forehead !

On Friday we arrive at the track, we will be with the Muy Caliente jet car team for the weekend, the team run 2 jet dragsters backed by Lucas Oil, we are helping with the Terminal Velocity car which will be piloted by Tom Bognor.

We are really looking forward to this trip and will gain a wealth of experience working with the team and seeing how things are done in the USA compared to how we do it over here.

It will be awesome to be on the start line at this fantastic track for the Halloween meeting.

Keep an eye out for us in our Red team shirts, it will also be cool to meet up with Kris Boesen from Six B Apparel who designed and manufactured our team wear.

We are flying out with 2 bags but have lots of parts to pick up in the USA for our 2016 season so we will be traveling out light and coming back loaded !

I will update this site daily but please remember we will be 7 hours behind UK time, wishing everyone involved a fast and safe weekend !
